With Family Day weekend fast approaching, did you know that the Canadian Association of Optometrists recommends getting your eyes checked every 2 years if you are between 20-64? If you are above or below that range the follow-up schedule changes to annual eye checks. In fact, we can do eye checks on patients as young as 6 months old!
For children, we are checking to make sure they are meeting the developmental vision milestones, ensuring that their vision is as clear as possible, and checking to make sure their eyes are working as a team. Would you be able to explain blurry vision if you didn’t know what clear vision is?
Over 65 years of age the risk of cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration all go up so having an annual exam will make sure that if there are any signs of change we can discuss treatment options as early as possible giving you the best prognosis.
A common statement we are hearing at Family Eyecare is that the most recent eye exams were “sometime around the COVID-19 pandemic” which is now four years ago! If this applies to you we have availabilities as early as next week to get you back on track seeing as clearly as possible!
